The author, Deborah Young joins the nation in remembering September 11, 2001.  That day brought anguish, hurt and many, many losses.  The pains felt as a result of the incidents of that day, will forever remain embedded in our hearts and minds.  The author hopes all will find solace in the poems written to honor the victims of 9/11.

Destiny's path, none knew

Assistance, hands, could not extend

Swiftly, swiftly, came the end

Pain, we pray, ne'er, a one

Did, befriend...

Our hearts were pricked

And, our feelings were made, ill

But, we loom strong and tall, still...

We are, Americans

We stand, united.  We stand proud

Our America, our America

America, the beautiful, mighty mountain

We are forever and most eternally, dedicated, to you...

U. S. Postal Service - Heroes of 2001 Stamp

September 20, 2001 quote by President George W. Bush, as he addressed the joint session of Congress, regarding the September 11, 2001 assault on America:

Our nation, this generation, will lift the dark threat

of violence from our people and our future.  We

will rally the world to the cause by

our efforts, by our courage.  We will not tire

we will not falter, and we will not fail...

To pay tribute to the patriotic spirit of Americans, the U. S. Postal Service issued the United We Stand postage stamp and numerous stationery items in 2001.
