The American Baby Boomer generation is made up of approximately
seventy-six million individuals born between 1946 -1964. The first wave of
Boomers turned sixty, 60 years young in 2006. Baby Boomers
created the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s culture. The Baby
Boomers Tribute page is dedicated to all of the Boomers, Baby Boomers.
Baby Boomers had their own brand of music. The
Boomers music was wonderfully versatile and remains popular to this day. Baby Boomers, just as other cultures
before them, also had their own style of dress; poodle skirts,
poofy petticoats,
peddle pushers, chiffon scarves,
shifts, tents, mini skirts,
halters, go-go boots,
penny loafers, bobby socks,
saddle shoes, converse sneakers,
clogs, stacks, bell bottoms,
hot pants, etc.
Baby Boomers had their
own dances; The Twist, The
Jerk, The Watusi, The
Cha-Cha, The Slow Drag,
The Bump, The Electric Slide,
The Two Step, The Tighten
Up, The Pony, The Swingout,
The Swim, The Mash Potatoes,
The Locomotion, The Hully Gully,
The Hustle,
The Bugaloo, Funky Chicken, The Fly,
Boney Maroney, Hitchhiker, etc.
The
author, Deborah Young
a savvy and sophisticated Baby Boomer, has written poems to honor Baby Boomers;
Boomers, Baby Boomers and

Lonnie Lee Young; Sho' 'Nuf, We'll Miss You Visual
Poem
Bust on Stand
...Lonnie Lee Young, a baby boomer, extraordinaire
Leo the Lion, you truly hurtled thru life with an air of
flare
No matter what, all of the records will say
The obvious signs prove, you certainly did, pass this way
Top, thin-clad, track star; fuh, sho' 'nuf; we'll miss, you
Your unique humor and opinions were honest and true
Your master mechanic skills hailed you as one of the best
And, your cheetah like sprintin' placed you, above the rest
You were a genuine human being full of charity, empathy and authenticity
Hence, Mr. Lonnie Lee Young, your existence was notable, I do, decree
Check it out, a bust on a stand; forever, pays tribute to your 56 years, with, dignity

Visual Poetry
The Baby
Boomers Creed Visual Poem - Spinning Top On
Table
...We are baby boomers, we are
We
are the generation most creative and diverse, by far
Brand new paths, we
have set, all ablaze
And, we have transformed each and every, life phase
In elementary school we learned from Dick, Jane, Sally, Spot and Puff
We
entertained ourselves, we played rough and sometimes fell on our duff
Hide-n-seek, ring around the roses, red light, green light, sling shots and
blind man's bluff
And, toy makers provided us with
a whole lotta, stuff
The slinky, yo-yos, hula-hoops, spinnin'- spinning tops,
marbles and jacks were way off, the cuff...

The Baby Boomers Creed
