The author, Deborah Young, humbly pays tribute to the United States presidents. The author strongly believes that both the outgoing and the incoming presidents should be honored. For, the job of Commander-In-Chief is of the utmost importance. Therefore, since 2001 the author has enthusiastically created Visual Poetry and Poetic Portraits to honor the commencement and conclusion of each United States presidential term. The author respectfully acknowledges two African Americans who ran for United States Presidency; Shirley Chisholm the first African American woman in 1972, and Jesse Jackson the first African American male, 1984, 1988. Every four years American citizens vote for a new president. On January 20th after each election year, the winning candidate is officially sworn into office as President of the United States with an inaugural ceremony, which includes the reciting of the Executive Oath of Office - Article II, Section I, Clause 8 of the Constitution of the United States: I do solemnly swear, or affirm that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the United States The author, Deborah Young is the first and only known writer to simultaneously honor the outgoing and incoming United States presidents, former President William Jefferson Clinton and President George W.
